When I talk about content marketing, I typically recommend it as a way to demonstrate your expertise in order to generate interest in your product or services. That’s why content marketing can be one of the most powerful tools for your sales team.
But, did you know there are actually some ways you can monetize your content directly?
In other words, instead of using content marketing as a sales tool, your content IS the product.
That’s what we talk about in today’s episode of The Marketing Huddle. Stan and I reveal
how your content can actually be the tool for driving direct revenue for your business.
If you’ve been looking for ways to get more out of your content marketing efforts or if you want to diversify your revenue streams,
this episode is for you!
How to Monetize Your Content
Here are just some of the things we discussed in this episode:
- What is the difference between direct and indirect monetization of content;
- The six most popular ways to monetize content directly;
- The best way for businesses to get started with monetizing content;
- The pros and cons of advertising as a monetization tool;
- The essential items needed to successfully monetize content; and
- How to best measure your monetization efforts (besides dollars and cents).
This Week in Marketing:
Remember when Google introduced authorship so search results would show the photo and person associated with content on a site?
Facebook is now rolling out something similar with author tags. The idea is that when an article is shared on Facebook it will now include an author byline and link to the author’s profile page.
On the show, we discuss how this development can benefit content creators. This post from The Social Media Hat offers a great guide on how to set it up.
Marketing MVP: Groove
Every week, we highlight a person or business that is really rocking their marketing efforts to give you some inspiration on how you can level up with your marketing.
This week, Laura shares why Groove’s move to be completely transparent with their startup journey (including sharing revenue!) on their blog is a brilliant content marketing approach.
