One Social Media Conference You Don’t Want to Miss

On April 4-5, I’ll be attending Social Slam, a digital media conference in Knoxville, Tenn., started by my friend and trusted colleague, Mark Schaefer.

This is the third year for the event and I’ve not missed one yet. And, this year is extra special because I’ll be joining the stage! I will be participating in a panel discussion to help beginners just getting out of the gate with their social media efforts.

Social Slam is a stellar social media conference and I think it’s one you should make time to attend.
 Why?

Here are a few good reasons:

  • It’s budget-friendly. Tickets are only $99. You can’t beat that! Social Slam was built to be a low-cost alternative to many other digital media conferences to encourage people to come and learn. The price has been kept low because the event is run entirely by volunteers. If you go, be sure to thank them!
  • Great content. Each year, the organizers bring in a stellar line up of world-class speakers who offer up tips for both the seasoned marketing pro and digital media beginner. This year, I’m especially excited to hear from John Jantsch, founder of Duct Tape Marketing and author of three top-notch marketing books, and Australian-based social media blogger Jeff Bullas, who will be making his American debut at this event. And, there are so many others to add to the list. You can see the full lineup of speakers here.
  • Fantastic networking. While the content is great, the people at this event make it even better. There are many networking opportunities built into the schedule — a tweet-up and VIP party the night before the conference, lunch and breaks throughout the day and an after-party following the event. Additionally, the speakers at this conference are very accessible and welcoming throughout the day. As I’ve written before, it’s the relationships built at this event that make it truly special.

Enter for a Chance to Win a Free Ticket!

Because I really want to see you at Social Slam, I’m giving away ONE VIP ticket to the conference. In addition to attendance at the daylong conference, the VIP ticket also gets you access to the VIP pre-party on April 4, reserved seating at the front of the conference and access to the VIP lunch line!

To enter for the drawing, simply click here to answer three short questions. That’s it! Everyone who fills out the survey will be entered into the drawing and I will randomly select the winner.

And, if you want your responses to be anonymous, simply leave the name field blank and leave a comment below telling me that you filled out the form.

I will be drawing the winner at noon on Friday, March 8. So, hurry up and enter today before it’s too late. I’ll contact the winner directly and also announce it in the comments on the blog.

And, if you want to guarantee that you’ll get a ticket, you can just go ahead and buy one right here
 before it sells out!

I hope to see you in Knoxville next month! It’s gonna be a blast!!!!

Hi Laura,

Love what Mark has done with this conference (especially the budget-friendly aspect). Not sure I’ll make it this year, but man I would love to be there.

And congrats to you for sharing the stage! Sounds like a fun panel dissuasion.

Craig — it’s time for you to escape the land of sleet and fog for a few days and join us in the sunny South!

You’re right – Mark has done a phenomenal job with this conference. It felt like a reunion for all his blog community. So fun!

Thanks for the kind words too. I appreciate it! I wish you could make it!

Great write-up Laura! Those are the reasons I love #soslam — it really is a different kind of conference.

Glad I’m going to be able to make my 2nd year and I know you are going to knock your panel presentation out of the park!

HUGE Congratulations to Kerry Woo! He’s the winner of the Social Slam ticket! Thanks to everyone who entered. Even if you didn’t win, I hope you’ll consider attending Social Slam. It’s a great event!
