Three Social Media Conferences You Don’t Want to Miss

If you want to learn about using social media for your business, you can easily spend all day devouring blog posts and eBooks that offer tips about what you need to do.

Although that can certainly be helpful, sometimes you need to break away from the computer and get in front of the experts. Nothing beats face-to-face learning and spending time with some super-smart folks.

If you want to up your social media game, you’re in luck! Here are three-high caliber social media conferences happening this month that you won’t want to miss:

Explore Nashville — April 13

Explore Social Media NashvilleExplore Nashville is a one-day seminar put on by Jason Falls of Social Media Explorer
 fame. Jason has put together a stellar line-up of speakers, such as Amber Naslund, Tom Webster and my friend, Mark Schaefer.

And, some of Nashville’s very own bright minds— John Morgan, Dave Delaney and Courtney Seiter — will be speaking too.

Besides all of the big names, I’m excited about the topics being covered. If you want to learn about social media measurement, mobile marketing and making your media spreadable, you’ll want to check it out. This conference has a higher price tag, but I’m certain it will be worth the investment. (UPDATE: You can get 50% off the price if you use the code SMCNASHVILLE. A great deal from Social Media Club!)

Side note: I’m also super-pumped to FINALLY meet Ike Pigott, who is also speaking at the event. He was one of my first friends on Twitter and I’ll never forget how he found my number and just called me up one day to continue our Twitter conversation offline!

PodCamp Nashville — April 14

Despite the name, PodCamp Nashville is NOT just for podcasters. It’s a fantastic “un-conference” that will cover a variety of aspects of promoting yourself online.

Topics range from social media and content strategy to SEO, development and online gaming. There are 39 different sessions, so you’re bound to find a topic that will help you and your business.

I will be talking about how to build a smart social media strategy. You learn more about my session and sign up for it here.

On top of the great content, you’ll also meet a ton of awesome people. Last year, more than 600 people attended this event. If you want to meet fellow entrepreneurs, business leaders and movers and shakers in the digital community, don’t miss this event! And, the best part is that it’s FREE!

Sign up here. I hope to see you there!

Social Slam Knoxville — April 27

Social SlamSocial Slam is now in it’s second year and I can’t wait to go back! Mark Schaefer and the folks at Social Media Club Knoxville put together an amazing event last year and I think year looks even better!

Mitch Joel and Gini Dietrich are the two of the keynote speakers. Jay Baer is coming back this year to moderate a panel. And I’m pumped to see Marcus Sheridan (aka The Sales Lion), Stanford Smith and Sean McGinnis among the stellar line-up.

But the best part about this event is that a number of the people either speaking or attending this event are my friends. Some of them I’ll be meeting for the first time and others I’ve had the privilege of meeting before. I can’t wait to hang out with all of them!

The ticket price is $89 and you won’t find a finer conference for such a great value. It’s definitely worth the trip to Knoxville. Get your ticket here.

Are you going?

Raise your hand if you’re going to any of these events! Let me know — I’d love to connect with you!

What other social media conferences should I know about? Are there other events I need to add to my list?

I’m not sure, Sarah. I know that sometimes PodCamp does some live streaming and some folks share videos of their presentations afterward.
 @JohnWEllis:twitter
 would know what’s going on with that event. And, if I hear of anything, I’ll let you know.

Since the others are paid events, I don’t know if there will be any streaming. I’m guessing not.

Looks like there won’t be livestreaming after all. I do know that some people post their presentations following PodCamp and others share nice recaps. So, that might be a way for you to get some nuggets from the event. I’ll be sure to share what I can!

Folks – If you’re interested in going to Explore, you can get a 50% discount off of the ticket price if you use the discount code SMCNASHVILLE.

Bad news, Laura…I’m not going to be able to attend Social Slam after all! I’m totally bummed, but it’s for a very good reason. I’ve been asked to go represent a client of mine at an invitation only meeting in Burlington, VT.

The meeting is all about ‘managing your message’ and effective communication. I’ve been asked to facilitate discussion and share a ‘re-branding’ story on behalf of my client. So, all in all, a very good opportunity that should put me squarely in front of potential clients. The downside? I will sorely miss seeing you in person yet again, along with
 @Soulati:twitter
 ,
 @jennwhinnem:twitter
 , and the elusive
 @ginidietrich:twitter
 ! I’m trying to talk
 @Autumnmthompson:twitter

 into going in my place (I already purchased my VIP ticket!).
 🙁

Such a bummer!!! I’m so sad you won’t be there this year, but I’m happy for your GREAT opportunity for your client. You’ve definitely got a great reason to miss. If you can’t get Autumn to go in your place, let me know and maybe I can help you find a way to get rid of that ticket. Good luck with your meeting!
